Manlio Trucco zebra, ceramic, black and white, signed. Large handcrafted zebra by Italian painter and ceramicist, Manlio Trucco, (1884-1974) one of the major architects of the Albisolese artistic rebirth of the 1920's and 30's. As a young man, Trucco trained in Paris under fashion designer Paul Poirot and returned to Italy, eventually opening his own studio in Albisola Superiore. The Studio operated until 1964 and was gifted, upon Trucco's death, to the Municipality of Albisola Superiore to become a museum of the region's ceramics.
