Ben Seibel Orb Bookends, Brass, Jenfred-Ware

Ben Seibel Orb bookends, brass. Pair of rounded sculptural brass over white metal bookends with cutout handles - the form resembling Turkish kettlebells. The warm patina to the brass plated finish which shows minor scuffs and scratches and a spec of loss to one (see photo 3), otherwise in good original condition with oatmeal colored felt covering the hollow undersides. Seibel, after studying painting, sculpture and architecture, set up his own studio in Post- War Manhattan where he worked with a small staff until his death in 1985. He said that the study of sculpture had been one of the most important forces in his approach to design".
