Raymor Lamp, Ceramic, Metallic Silver Glaze, Terracotta Honeycomb, Italy 1970s. A sculptural Italian lamp of the 1970s built on a full gourd form — a generous spherical body rising to a short tapered neck. The shoulder and neck are finished in a mirrored platinum luster; below the glaze line the body is left in raw terracotta, deeply impressed with a honeycomb pattern running in horizontal bands.

Distributed by Raymor, the New York importer responsible for bringing much of the best Italian ceramic design to the American market during this period. Previously catalogued as Bitossi; we now list it as a Raymor import on the basis of a labeled example of the identical form in our inventory. The maker field reflects the original cataloguing, pending correction.

Scattered kiln flecks to the terracotta body — small deposits of glaze spatter and natural iron specking in the clay, visible only on close inspection and photographed here in macro detail. Characteristic of unglazed Italian export terracotta of the period.

Ceramic body measures 16 inches high to the top of the neck and 13 inches across at its widest point. Overall height 28.25 inches to the top of the finial. Shade not included.
