Large Blue Shagreen Cocktail Table, Bone Inlay, Style of Karl Springer, 1980s

Large scale blue shagreen over wood cocktail table with bone inlay on the table's surface and bone covered leg caps. Luxuriously hand-crafted in the Philippines for NYC designer and retailer Karl Springer in the 1980s. The underside is painted black and there is the outline of a brass signature plate which was previously attached in the center. We've sold two other examples of the table; a 48" x 48" and 42" x 48". Each had a brass tag that read: "Karl Springer Hand Made in the Philippines". Additionally, each had a small, hand written white decal: KS-45 and KS-045 SPL, respectively. We purchased from the original owners in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Good: Wear consistent with age and use. Areas of loss of bone to the leg caps. Minute loss to the shagreen on front lower edge. We didn't attempt to clean or moisturize the shagreen.
