The Doors, 1969 Electric Circus Screenprint Poster
The Doors, 1969 Electric Circus Screenprint Poster. Large silk-screened poster referencing The Doors and the Electric Circus, New York. This is a fantasy / retrospective poster, not an actual concert handbill, as no such performance occurred. The work was produced in the early 1980s for distribution through custom frame shops, following a renewed surge of interest in The Doors after “The End” was prominently featured in Francis Ford Coppola’s film Apocalypse Now.
The poster gained significant collector attention following its inclusion in The Art of Rock by Paul Grushkin, where it is documented as plate 3.161. Due to its large scale, the poster was originally sold mounted on foam core, a condition common to all known first-state examples.
Condition notes include scuffing, foxing, and an abrasion to Morrison’s hair, consistent with age and handling of mounted examples.
Professionally framed by Chelsea Frames (August 2025) in a matte white wood frame; floated on white archival rag mat board (approximately 2" float all around), shadowbox construction, with 99% UV-filtering acrylic. Image Size: 41" W × 17" H Framed Size: 47" W × 23" H
